Book Review || Doughnuts & Deception by Agatha Frost

Hi darlings,

I know that it has been a bit since the last time that I posted a review. But I’ve been working on my Peridale Cafe challenge. I finally finished Doughnuts & Deception. This review does contain spoilers! So, let’s go ahead and dive in to the review.

Doughnuts & Deception takes off a little bit after the previous book Lemonade & Lies in which Julia goes with Jessie to assist with the homeless community. There she discovers new information about what it takes to be homeless and also that there might be a serial killer in the communities midst!

Pros:

– Julia grows more as a person and realizes her prejudices against the homeless

– Julia and Barker’s relationship is growing and I enjoy that when they fight Julia doesn’t act like one disagreement is the ultimate betrayal.

– Julia and Jessie’s relationship grows more.

– That the reason for the murders is touching and realistic. A lot of books have reasons being “just because”

Cons:

– That Max chose to hide behind “God” as his reasoning to start killing people. At least own what you do.

– Cozy goals is to confuse the reader into guessing who the real person is. The work she put into Benton possibly being the strongest suspect was cut short when Julia discovered from Stella about the missing needles. Diabetics usually know about their supplies because it is something that their life depends on.

Overall, I really liked this book. The story is so well done and fun! I just love the chemistry because Barker and Julia. I think that they are really going to be one of my top five OTPs (One True Pairings). I can’t wait to dive more into seeing Jessie and Julia get closer. I think they will be such a good family! I give this book a five out five stars for the great character growth, smooth plot line, and my huge desire to dive into book four! Let me know down below what your thoughts are on the book!
