Book Review || Assaulted Caramel by Amanda Flower

Hi darlings!

I hope that you are having a fantastic day. Are you excited for the winter season? I sure am! I think this season is so perfect for cozy mystery books. Speaking of cozy mystery books I am going to be reviewing Assaulted Caramel by Amanda Flower. Flower has quickly become one of my favorite author’s since I found her Magical Bookshelf Mystery series. So let’s dive into the review.

Assaulted Caramel kicks off with Baily King, a rising chocolatier from New York, rushing to the Amish community in Harvest, OH to see to her ill Grandfather. She knows that it is risk to drop everything since she is up for the head chocolatier at the New York chocolate shop JP Chocolates, but for Bailey her family comes first no matter what. When she arrives in town she is reminded of how much she missed spending summers with her grandparents in their candy shop called Swissmen Sweets and the flaws in her own lifestyle in comparison to the simple truth of how she views Amish living. She witnesses her grandfather getting into arguement with a non-Amish buisness man trying to purchase all the locations on main st where her grandfather’s shop is. It seems to just be an arguement till Bailey finds Mr. Colton in the kitchen dead with a knife in his back. Bailey rushes to find the killer before she or her grandfather end up in jail for a crime they didn’t commit.

Pros:

* The cover is spot on for letting me know that this a cozy book.

* Flower explains a lot of customs of Harvest’s Amish community.

* Any PA Dutch words that she uses she makes sure that Bailey explains what they mean.

* I like the friendship between Cass and Bailey. I think that it has room to grow and I am excited to see what shenanigans that they will go on.

* I love how passionate Bailey is about the chocolate and that Flower makes her so descriptive about how she makes the delicious treats.

* Aiden and Bailey’s chemistry is strong and I can’t wait to see their rottenly sweet characters finally get together.

* Bailey’s level of respect for her grandparent’s community despite her own beliefs on how things should be done.

* Flower kept me on my toes about who the actual killer was until the end.

Cons:

* Allowing Eric to speak to her the way that he does. Literally every interaction between them he is yelling at her.

*The Sherriff. His behavior was unbecoming. It’s a wonder how he ever got elected with such a strong dislike for a large portion of his community.

* Mrs. Yoder,  the eager beaver busy body that is the Amish Deacon’s wife. She was sooooo rude.

My overall thoughts is that this book is really good. I give this book five out five stars. I recommend this book because Bailey is a good well rounded character, the plot for the book is well done, the killer isn’t obvious, and I am excited to pick up the next book in the series. This book is a really good cozy mystery book that sets you up for all the cozy feels. Let me know down below what your thoughts are on the book and if you’ve read or will pick it up!
