My Pleasure Book Tag

Hi Blogtobers! I have wanted to do this tag and I am excited to be able to share it with you today. This tag is originally from Booktube. The creator is Steve Partridge and you can video his here. I don’t know how this is going to go because I mostly read supernatural based fiction books. So let’s dive into this tag!

1. Think. A book that made you think, hard.

I found Room through a display way before the movie came out. I read this book and at first it was hard to get into. I didn’t want to read about a woman and her son in captivity. The book is told from her son’s point of view and it made it even more sad to read. It made me think a lot about the real struggle people have to go through and how what happens can damage a person. If you haven’t picked this up then you should!

2. Love. A book that broke or mended your heart.

A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks was a book that broke my heart. You have this tale of the bad boy falling for the good girl. The road to love is rocky but it’s a good road until the good girls secret is revealed. Then it turns bittersweet and left me feeling like Jaime deserved a full life.

3. Eat. A book that nourishes you.

Caught Running by Abigail Roux and Madeline Urban is one of few books that I just completely adore. There isn’t a word of this book that has ever disappointed me. It’s the story of two men who are coaches for a high school base ball team and how they fell in love. It’s realistic, sad, happy, funny, and hopeful to me.

4. Laugh. A book that brought a little comic relief.

I choose Southern Magic for it’s comic storytelling. Southern Magic by Amy Boyles is a supernatural comedy introductory book to the Sweet Tea Witches Series. It’s about Pepper Dunn, a young witch, who unfortunately  only just discovered that she is a witch and is also accused of a murder. So she is running around trying to figure out who the real killer is before she is sent to the witch prison for a crime she didn’t commit.

5. Sex. A book that explores or contains sexuality that doesn’t make you cringe.

Like the person that tagged me. Sex shouldn’t be seen as cringe worthy but apart of ones sexual experience unless it is unhealthy and harmful to the partners. I choose, Shock & Awe by Abigail Roux is the introductory spin off series from her Cut & Run series. This book is about Nick and Doc. Doc was injured in the  main series where Nick takes him to Doc’s cabin in Montana. There two of them find their attraction is more than just friendship anymore. They discover their own passion for one another.

6. Rest. A book that gave you peace, reflection, or just calms you down.

I choose the Harry Potter series for this one. I read this series when I was in high school and I love it. I can read anyone of those books it brings me peace, reflection, and calm. The prose of this series draws me in and I love it.

7. Experience. A book that introduced you to a new subject or shifted your perspective.

The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas is a fantastic read that shares a perspective that I don’t have experience with. It was eye opening. I was raised to treat all as equals and have continued that throughout my life. I couldn’t imagine to the full extent what others have had to endure. If you want to read a book of heartache, family strength, and the desire for change for the better of individuals not like yourself read this book. It will change your mind for the better I guarantee it!

It’s ok! It took me quite a bit to figure out the books. Some tags are just a dash more thought provoking.
