I am back again with another Netflix original television series review. I saw the trailer for The Curious Creations of Christine McConnell and I it had me interested. So i was excited when it was finally released and I could view it. The show has an opening sequence that reminds me of Sabrina: The Teenage Witch. The original version. I think that this is pilot episode is so different. it’s like a mash up of a T.V. / Youtube baker and creepy animal puppets. Christine appears to live at home and creates some really macabre treats. Her kitchen appears to be setup kind of 1940’s – 1950’s stepford. Speaking of stepford, Christine acts like that stereotypical naive for media stepfords. The really funny part is that this series is the creatures. Rose appears to be racoon that nearly died in a dump truck. Christine found her and sowed her back up. Rankle is a Egyptian cat that died and was mummified. Rankle’s tomb was raided and he was sold to an antique shop. Edgar is some kind of werewolf? It wasn’t properly explained. Millie is a monster that lives in the fridge and has tentacles. There is a natural understanding that it is normal that her creatures talk and her neighbors are aware that they talk. A weird part that isn’t explained that when she goes into explaining the treats she goes into explaining kind of like a youtuber. It’s weirdly funny because the creatures are like, “WHO IS SHE TALKING TO?”. I hope that further episodes explain it. I give this show a three point five out five stars. I dinged it heavily because there was a lack of introductory explanation. I will be continuing on because it is so strange that I want to continue to figure it out. Have you seen this series?
