Death by Dumpling by Vivien Chien is her debut book. The book is centered around Lana Lee, a waitress at her parents restaurant called the Ho-Lee Noodle House. She has just gone through a bad break-up, quiting her job, and back to working at her parents buisness. Things are definetelt shook up for her.
Her personal life – the once hottest gossip, is now lost when the property manager, Mr. Feng is found dead in his office from the take out from her family’s restaurant she’d delivered to him. The noodle house is now suspect number one and she is on the hunt for the real killer before she is murdered.
This has to be one of the best debut books I’ve read in a long while. I have recently gotten into cozy books. I was right to do so. Lana is a relatable main character that doesn’t shy away from the awkward moments in life. She is fiery, strong minded, caring, and loyal. These qualities make her a really good detective. Speaking of detectives, I can’t wait to see where her’s and Detective Adam Trudeau’s relationship goes. There was good character development, world building, and the plot was fluid with no spots that are out of place. I give this book a 5 out 5 stars. I definitely recommend this book. Thanks for reading! Let me know down below if you’ve read it, will you pick it up, or why you wouldn’t want to? Till next time!
