Cleo and Cornelius: A Tale of Two Cities and Two Kitties is about two cats who live in ancient Egypt near the end of the reign of Cleopatra. Cornelius accidentally gets taken to Rome where the culture of worshiping and pampering cats is actually done with Dogs. As he is there in Rome, Cleo sets on a path to find him. Once she finds him the two of them set off on exploring Rome together.
The cover art is childishly beautiful and does its job of letting me see the two main cats while setting the scene. The story flows well letting you know the characteristic differences between Cleo and Cornelius and taking you on a journey. Through the journey you get to read about their differences. I like that the cats respect their differences as well and there isn’t any kind of mocking one another. The fun facts pages in relation to the tale was such a great read! I know that I learned a few things about ancient Egypt and Rome. Also, on those pages we find that there were ancient artifacts in the background artwork and if the reader desired to go back through you could see them. I did it and it was fun to go back through to find them. I was sad that the book was short because I know that I could read so many more adventures with these two. I do hope that these two sweet felines will get their own series. I do recommend this book and I will keep an eye out for a second book!
