I love when books get their own television shows. It’s so interesting to see who they choose as cast, do they stray from the books, and how creative they are with the bases of the books. So here are my top five favorite series based on books.

1. Shadowhunters

The cast is diverse. I absolutely adore the chemistry all the characters have. The story lines are well written and the drama is acted to perfection. I’m glad that they’ve strayed away from the books. The books had some rather awful storylines. So I actually prefer this series to its book series.

2. Trueblood

The cast was great and the storylines started out good. However as time went on the story lines got out of hand where they didn’t know where to go. I loved the book series and I think that they just didn’t know where to go with the tv series.

3. The Vampire Diaries

The vampire diaries books were hard for me to get into but when I got into the chaos I loved it! I love the tv series though. To me it’s like the fan fiction we all wanted. I always root for the bad brother who gets his HEA. My favorite couple that could have been more was Klaus and Caroline.

4. The Series of Unfortunate Events

This show is so amazing. I love the cast and the story lines keep you coming back for more. I think it follows pretty close to the books. I haven’t read them in forever but the series does them justice even if they aren’t exactly the same.

5. Game of Thrones

The series is good in its own right that has delivered some gut wrenching moments. I love the series and I am saddened it’s coming to an end but I am glad that it won’t be over staying it’s welcome. I only hope that Sansa makes it out on top!
